On Wednesday 1st November John Fogarty was awarded with his 50 Year Service Award. John has been a dedicated member of Oreti SLSC and has held many positions within the club over the years as well as helping many people with their swims across Foveaux Strait.
During the ceremony Mr John van Leeuwen (Oreti SLSC Patron) spoke and he explained how he was grateful to John Fogarty for getting in the water with him during his swim across Foveaux Strait, when no one else was keen to get in and swim when they hit Blue Bottles.
We wish to thank John Fogarty and John van Leeuwen, both recipients of the 50 Year Service Award, for the many years of dedication and service to surf life saving and to Oreti SLSC.
