About Us

Oreti Beach is a quiet beach with kilometers of sand and reasonably safe surf conditions which means that on a sunny day Oreti Beach is well utilized by the Invercargill and wider Southland Community. Because vehicles are able to drive onto the beach we are very popular with family groups who arrive in the morning and ‘set up’ for a traditional ‘kiwi day at the beach’.

Formed in 1929 OSLSC was and still is one of the smaller clubs in the Otago District, with around 40 members, but the last couple of years has seen us steadily growing. We have an increasing membership and 2006 will see us form a Junior Surf group to service the many under 14’s in our community.

With some families having many generations coming through the club we have a strong sense of family, community and history.

We welcome new members – young and old.
