Welcome To Brighton

Brighton is a small community approximately 20 minutes drive from Dunedin; it is regarded as having one of the smallest but most strongest Surf Life Saving Clubs in the Southern Region and it competes with distinction at a Regional and National level.

The Brighton SLSC It has 120 members with a strong Junior Club and an active group of Open competitors as well.

Brighton beach is sheltered amongst the rocks and regarded as a relatively safe beach in comparison to the more exposed city beaches. On a nice Dunedin summer’s day the Brighton beach can be packed with swimmers. It is a popular family beach with families coming from Dunedin and from the Taieri Plains to enjoy the rocks, scenery, sand and surf.
Brighton’s Surf lifeguard patrol’s are consistently among the region’s best with high numbers of preventative actions and the Surf Lifeguards are well known for their proactive life guarding practises and consistently working to keep the swimmers between the flags.

Brighton Surf Life Saving Club was formed in 1937 and has a proud history of national competition success in the canoe and IRB especially.
